Currently, the Morpheus Training app can READ various lifestyle data types from 3rd party platforms.  These data types include:

  • Daily Sleep quantity (hh:mm)
  • Daily Steps taken
  • Daily Calories burned
  • Daily Distance (via steps taken)

We have data connection capability with Apple Health, Google Health Connect, Garmin, and Fitbit.  If you have a 3rd party tracker other than what is listed above, odds are that it can write data to Apple Health or Google Health Connect, in which case, Morpheus can still receive it.

Although not required to use Morpheus effectively, if you currently own an activity or sleep tracking device, go ahead and set up your tracking properly to give Morpheus the most accurate picture of your daily stress load.

If you prefer not to track your daily steps or sleep, you can select “none” from the drop-down menu within the Morpheus app (Menu - Settings - Tracking Settings)

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Morpheus is not receiving the steps and sleep data directly from your wearable tracker device.  It is receiving the data from the database that your tracker syncs its data to.  This is what the Morpheus app is doing every time you open the Morpheus app from it being closed.  It's calling the respective database that you have chosen (ie Garmin, Apple Health, Fitbit, Health Connect, etc) and is asking that platform for any new data that has not yet been sent to Morpheus.

To make sure that Morpheus has the most up to date sleep and steps data, you may need to manually sync your tracker with its own app or dad on a regular basis. This is a best practice if you track sleep with a wearable device so that Morpheus can have your sleep data prior to taking your daily recovery test.

Below you will find instructions for setting up your preferred tracking platform to send data to your Morpheus Training app.

_______________________________________________________________

Apple Health (iOS only)

First, set Apple Health as your preferred tracking platform for steps and sleep data from within the Morpheus app.  To do this, go to Menu - Settings - Tracking Settings.  And press SAVE.

Then, go back to the Morpheus home screen and you'll see an Apple Health "Health Access" screen.  Allow Morpheus to access the data that you want to share.
**Please note that right now we only receive Sleep and Steps data, but you can turn on all if you want to.

You could also choose to go directly into your Apple Health app and tap on Apps and Services.  From there you can choose Morpheus and choose the data that you want to share with Morpheus.

How and When does Morpheus receive data from Apple Health?

When you open your Morpheus app from it being completely closed, part of the initial icon spinning on the screen is Morpheus calling Apple for any updated data.  If there is any new data that Apple has not yet sent to Morpheus, it will be sent at that time and will be displayed in the Morpheus app on the Home Screen.  So you need to make sure that if you have a different platform sending data to Apple Health, that the data you want is indeed in Apple Health, as that is the only way Morpheus will be able to get it.

It is important to note that if you are using Apple Health to track sleep hours, you need to make sure that your "time asleep" is final in Apple Health before you open the Morpheus app to complete your morning recovery test.

If Apple Health only has "time in bed" listed then the sleep hours in Morpheus will show 0:00 or
As soon as "time asleep" has been finalized in Apple Health, you can open the Morpheus app and Apple Health will send us that data.  Or if you already have the Morpheus app open, just close and reopen it to refresh the data.  It should always match or be within a minute or so.

IMPORTANT:  If you have sleep data coming to Apple Health from a device or platform that cannot measure or communicate sleep stages (Core, REM, Deep) to Apple Health (such as the picture below), then you will not be able to get the "time asleep" value sent to Morpheus from Apple Health.  If using Apple Watch directly for tracking sleep, according to Apple documentation, your watch has to support at least OS9.

If you cannot record sleep stages into Apple Health, then you have two choices for recording sleep into Morpheus...
- Change your sleep settings in the Morpheus app to "None" and then just manually enter your sleep using the slider bar on the Recovery Questionnaire.
OR
- Enter your sleep time manually into the Apple Health app using Core as the type.  See below for how to this.

If you need to manually add any sleep into Apple Health that you want to appear in the Morpheus Training app (such as a nap) you will need to add that sleep data to the Apple Health app as "Core" sleep type for the day on which you want that sleep to appear in Morpheus.

Health Connect (Android only)

First, if you do not already have the Health Connect app installed on your phone, please do so via the Play Store.

Next, in your Morpheus app go to Menu - Settings - Tracking Settings and set the dropdown menu for Steps and Sleep to Health Connect.  Then press SAVE.
Go back to the Morpheus Home screen and you'll see instructions about how to complete the Health Connect and Morpheus Connection.
Press the "I'm ready" button to continue.

You will be redirected to a screen to choose the data types from Health Connect that you want to share with Morpheus.  You can choose "Allow all" or you can choose any of the 4 data types that we currently read from Health Connect.  **Please note that "activity" data (distance, steps, calories) are all tied together.  So if you want one of them you need to turn on all of them**

If you have not yet set up Health Connect to read from whichever app platforms you are using to track data such as sleep and steps, you will need to make sure that you do this.  A list of of the apps that can send data to Health Connect can be found here

Any app that you have on your phone that has a possible connection with Health Connect will be listed in the Health Connect app under App Permissions.

To give Health Connect access to read data from your app platform of choice (in this case Oura), you need to tap on it, and then choose the data that you want to allow.  In this case, as long as you allow Health Connect to read Sleep and Steps from Oura and allow Oura to write that same data to Health Connect, Morpheus will then be able to pull in Sleep and Steps data from Oura via the Health Connect app.

How and When does Morpheus receive data from Health Connect?

When you open your Morpheus app from it being completely closed, part of the initial icon spinning on the screen is Morpheus calling Health Connect for any updated data.  If there is any new data that your connected app has sent to Health Connect but has not yet sent to Morpheus, it will be sent at that time and will be displayed in the Morpheus app on the Home Screen.

It is important to note that if you are using Health Connect to track sleep hours, you need to make sure that your sleep data is final in whatever app you have connected to Health Connect before you open the Morpheus app to complete your morning recovery test.

In the example above, if Oura has not yet finalized your sleep and has not yet sent it to Health Connect, then Morpheus cannot receive it from Health Connect.
As soon as your sleep data has been finalized and sent from your connected app of choice to Health Connect, you can open the Morpheus app and Health Connect will send us that data.  Or if you already have the Morpheus app open, just close and reopen it to refresh the data.

In the Health Connect app, you can see all recent app access including what has been read and written.  So if you are wondering why your Activity (steps) from your Google Fit app are not yet showing in the Morpheus app, you can check Health Connect to view the recent read and write data.

Garmin (iOS and Android)

Morpheus has a direct connection with Garmin.  So if Garmin is your preferred tracking platform, then you can make this connection directly as opposed to going through Apple Health or Health Connect.

To connect Morpheus and Garmin first, make sure that you go to Menu - Settings - Tracking Settings in the Morpheus app and set the drop down to Garmin and then press SAVE.

Then go back to the Morpheus home screen and you should be redirected to a Garmin Connect login screen.  This is where you enter your credentials that match your Garmin Connect account.  After entering your credentials, tap Sign In.

You will be redirected to a screen to choose the type of data that you want Garmin to be able to share with Morpheus.

  • Activities = Garmin workouts
    • Please note that this is not yet active but in the latter half of 2024, you will be able to complete workouts with your Garmin watch or Garmin device and have those synced over to Morpheus.
  • Daily Health Stats = Steps, Sleep, Calories burned

Tap Save and you're all done.  You will be redirected to the Morpheus home screen and will see that your Garmin account has been successfully paired with Morpheus.

You can also go into your Garmin Connect account and check to see if Morpheus Recovery is fully connected.

How and When does Morpheus receive data from Garmin?

When you open your Morpheus app from it being completely closed, part of the initial icon spinning on the screen is Morpheus calling Garmin for any updated data.  If there is any new data that Garmin has not yet sent to Morpheus, it will be sent at that time and will be displayed in the Morpheus app on the Home Screen.

It is important to note that if you are using Garmin Connect to track sleep hours, you need to make sure that your sleep data is final in Garmin Connect before you open the Morpheus app to complete your morning recovery test.  This means that you'll need to sync your Garmin watch with Garmin Connect until the sleep data is 100% final

If Garmin Connect shows "No sleep detected", then there is obviously nothing to send to Morpheus so it will not appear in Morpheus.

As soon as "time asleep" and "sleep score" has been finalized in Garmin Connect, you can open the Morpheus app and Garmin will send us that data.  Or if you already have the Morpheus app open, just close and reopen it to refresh the data.

Fitbit (iOS and Android)

Morpheus has a direct connection with Fitbit.  So if Fitbit is your preferred tracking platform, then you can make this connection directly as opposed to going through Apple Health or Health Connect.

To connect Morpheus and Fitbit, first make sure that you go to Menu - Settings - Tracking Settings in the Morpheus app and set the drop down to Fitbit and then press SAVE.

Then go back to the Morpheus home screen and you should be redirected to a Fitbit login screen.  This is where you enter your credentials that match your Fitbit account or if you have your Fitbit account linked to Google, you can enter your Google account credentials.

After fully logging into Fitbit or Google, you will be redirected to a screen to choose the type of data that you want Fitbit to be able to share with Morpheus.  **note that we only currently receive sleep and steps data.  Steps is within the "activity and exercise" category for Fitbit.**

How and When does Morpheus receive data from Fitbit?

When you open your Morpheus app from it being completely closed, part of the initial icon spinning on the screen is Morpheus calling Fitbit for any updated data.  If there is any new data that Fitbit has not yet sent to Morpheus, it will be sent at that time and will be displayed in the Morpheus app on the Home Screen.

It is important to note that if you are using Fitbit to track sleep hours, you need to make sure that your sleep data is final in the Fitbit app before you open the Morpheus app to complete your morning recovery test.  This means that you'll need to sync your Fitbit watch with Fitbit app until the sleep data is 100% final

If Fitbit sleep data is not final, then there is obviously nothing to send to Morpheus so it will not appear in Morpheus.
As soon as your sleep data is final in your Fitbit app, you can open the Morpheus app and Fitbit will send us that data.  Or if you already have the Morpheus app open, just close and reopen it to refresh the data.
